How to normalize audio
- Choose one recording from your device. You can use MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, AAC and other common audio formats up to 50 MB.
- Choose a target loudness and output format. MP3 is a convenient default; use WAV or FLAC when you want a lossless file.
- Select Normalize audio. Click or drag either waveform to compare a moment, check the measured levels, and download your file.
Tips for a balanced result
For spoken audio, -16 LUFS is a practical starting point. A louder music mix may suit -14 LUFS, while -23 LUFS leaves more room for quieter delivery. If you have a required delivery specification, follow that number instead.
Loudness and peak are different: the -1.5 dBTP ceiling helps prevent sharp peaks, so a very dynamic recording may finish below your chosen LUFS target. Use the measured result, not just the slider value, to decide whether to adjust and run it again.
When should you normalize audio?
Use it when voice recordings, podcast segments, demos, or clips have noticeably different listening levels. A consistent level makes a playlist or episode easier to hear without repeated volume changes.
Normalization changes listening level; it does not remove noise, repair distortion, or turn a poor recording into a clean one. Check the original first if clipping or background noise is the main issue.
Private local processing
